About the event
During this powerful three-hour workshop, we will explore the intersection of trauma-sensitive practice and the Montessori approach. Led by Liza Davis, AMI 3–6 Trainer, Executive Director of the Montessori Center of Minnesota, and holder of a Master’s degree in Trauma and Resilience in Educational Settings, this session offers both a deep dive into the impact of trauma and practical tools for supporting recovery and growth.
We will examine how trauma affects development, learning, and behavior—and how the prepared environment, when grounded in Montessori’s principles and practices, can become a place of restoration and resilience for both children and the adults who care for them. Through storytelling, research, and interactive reflection, participants will:
Gain foundational knowledge of trauma’s effects on the body and brain.
Explore Montessori’s historical and philosophical roots in healing, including her work with the White Cross.
